The somewhat recent discovery of A2 milk has changed many people’s lives who deal with what they believe to be lactose intolerance. Those who experience extreme discomfort but non life threatening reactions may find an answer to their issue, here.
What is 100% A2/A2 milk?
It is milk that contains only A2 beta-casein protein, not to be confused with A1.
Knowing if a cow produces A2 or A1 proteins comes down to genetics. Hair is tested in a lab to indicate what kind of protein the animal produces. Some cows will be A1/A1 or A2/A2. Some will be a mixture of both, A1/A2.
The cows at our farm are all tested and proven to be 100% A2/A2.
Were we meant to consume A1 milk?
It is likely that humans are not meant to drink A1 milk. Did you know that all mammals produce A2 milk? Many people who have a reaction to cow milk find it easier to drink goat, sheep or buffalo milk. Did you know that all of those animals naturally produce 100% A2 milk?
Even human breast milk is 100% A2.
Where did this A1 protein in cows come from, you may ask.
Most cows with the A1 protein are found in European breeds. Some believe that the A1 protein is a mutation that developed thousands of years ago.
Europe imported their cows over to the US many years ago populating our states with the A1 protein producing cows. The majority of milk found in American grocery stores today contain the A1 protein.
Whether your milk is grass-fed, pasture raised or organic doesn’t matter.
The breeds of cows found in Southeast Asia still produce the A2 protein: Guernsey, Jersey and Desi, just to name a few. All of the cows on our farm are Guernsey.
Is A1 Milk Harmful?
There are people who don’t appear to be affected by A1 milk. However, A1 milk is known to be inflammatory to the body. Inflammation can manifest itself differently from person to person. Some people have severe reactions and cannot tolerate it. Others have smaller reactions. A1 can also cause other underlying issues that people try to ignore. It could be cystic acne, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headaches, etc.
Many people who leave Asia and parts of the Middle East, where the majority of milk is A2/A2, come to the US and find that they develop health issues or have an allergic reaction to milk from the store. Many of these health issues have been resolved by making the switch to A2 milk.
Our cows are genetically tested for A2/A2 proteins.
Our beef, buffalo and dairy animals are 100% grass-fed. They are never fed grain. Dairy animals are given minerals and molasses in the winter as a supplement.
Grown and processed beyond the standards of federal guidelines addressing among many factors, soil quality, animal raising practices, pest and weed control and use of additives.
Our farm does not use synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or additives in our farming practices. We do not feed our animals grass or feed that has been sprayed.
Many people don't realize that the FDA requires butchers to spray raw meat with citric acid to slow the growth of bacteria on meat that naturally occurs. The citric used does not come from natural citrus fruits. Instead, it is manufactured using a fermentation process that includes a mold that eats the sugar of corn. Citric acid is the byproduct of the fermentation process. Instead of citric acid, our FDA approved butcher uses an organic apple cider vinegar and water spray.
The diet of the animals contains zero corn.
Contains no dairy ingredients.
Our animals a never fed grain.
We believe that happy animals are the healthiest. We provide our animals with a nutritious diet and clean living conditions. They are out on pasture whenever possible. They get plenty of fresh air and space to move around and receive medical treatment when needed.
Our food is not processed with nitrates.
We do not use ingredients made from GMOs.
We do not feed our animals anything derived from GMOs.
We do not homogenize our milk. Homogenizing is the process in which fat molecules in the milk are made smaller. This process results in the cream not separating form the rest of the milk. The cream in our milk does separate and rises to the top, so shake well!
Whenever possible and as the seasons allow, our animals are raised on pasture and eat as they wish.
Our food is never heated to the point of pasteurization.
No salt added.
Our animals are never fed soy. Everything we make and sell from our farm is made with soy-free ingredients.
No added sweeteners but may contain natural sugars.
Contains no meat or meat products.
